Radio One 91FM presents the 2016 OUSA Battle of the Bands

Back for its 28th year, this annual showdown is not only an awesome opportunity for those competing to cut their teeth in the industry, but your chance to see some incredible local talent!

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE! Heats take place every Friday through May at Re:Fuel with the Final on Saturday 28th of May.

Every year this competition showcases some amazing talent, with several previous winners becoming big names in the Dunedin music scene. As well as getting recognised we also have some sweet prizes for the winning bands!

1st Prize

  • $400 cash from OUSA
  • 2 x Single recording package (or the equivalent amount of recording time + Mixing/Mastering)
  • Spot in the Re-Orientation Line-Up: Pint Night at Re:Fuel
  • $400 advertising on Radio One 91 FM
  • Help from R1/NZ on Air with putting together a release pack for each single and an electronic press kit, delivered to Student Radio Network for consideration

2nd Prize

  • $200 cash from OUSA
  • 1 x Single recording package (or the equivalent amount of recording time + Mixing/Mastering)
  • $200 advertising on Radio One 91 FM
  • Help from R1/NZ on Air with putting together a release pack for each single and a band EPK, delivered to Student Radio Network for consideration

3rd Prize

  • $100 cash from OUSA
  • $100 advertising on Radio One 91 FM
  • Help from R1/NZ on Air with putting together a band EPK, delivered to Student Radio Network for consideration

Best Promoted Band

Bands will be assessed on their social media performance, marketing for their heats (and final if applicable)

  • Promotional package of $300 advertising on Radio One 91 FM including:
    • 1x Facebook, and either Twitter or Instagram post
    • 1x Facebook event hosted by OUSA and 3x posts to support this
    • 1x poster campaign on campus
    • OUSA snapchat event promotion for an event

All musical styles welcomed and encouraged! Backline will be supplied to a degree so please disclose any requirements in full detail when completing your application.
