THE MOTHRA STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL - Sep 27th to Oct 3rd
Grab a camera, grab an idea, grab some friends with a bit of talent and make a short movie.  The Mothra student film festival will be into its 19th consecutive year in 2008 and has spread like gorse throughout New Zealand - it is now is firmly entrenched at most Universities throughout New Zealand.  The Mothra was a C-grade Japanese movie about a giant moth that destroyed Tokyo and some movie director’s career.  Now of course, ‘the best Mothra’ epitomizes the creativity and humor of Otago students.

The Mothras of today are an eclectic mix of the more traditional really bad student films as well as some really quite good ones, but every kind has a place. Last year fifty Mothras were received, judged and given shiny 'Fred' awards at 'The Mothra Awards” ceremony - a convincing excuse to dress up fancy and pretend you're really famous.

The Videos are then screened over four nights to audiences. It's a great chance to watch your movie in the presence of your peers.

OUSA will even go so far as to lend equipment and have free digital editing tutorials for all you aspiring directors so really there’s no excuse! (Although you must book into use the equipment that we have because as you can imagine it’s a very busy time for our cameras).

Call into OUSA Events to sign up or for more details contact us on 479 5334 or email jen.events@ousa.org.nz
