Southern Youth Choir
The Southern Youth Choir was formed in 1992. It comprises young singers from the ages of 16 to 24 years; most from the University, some from secondary schools, and some continue to be members after starting their working lives.
The choir aims to up-skill young singers in the Dunedin region to participate in four-part choral singing and to present their programmes to local audiences, performing either in Marama Hall or in churches. The choir presents two concerts a year; one at the end of May in Semester One and the other at the beginning of October in Semester Two. The Choir benefits from the support of the University of Otago by rehearsing once a week in Marama Hall over the two semester University period.
