DARTS TOURNAMENT

Move on from around the world and let your inner Phil Taylor shine. This short and sweet competition is run in association with and supported by the Otago Darts Association and the NZ Darts Council. Best of luck! #onehundredandeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggghhhhtttttty

When: September 28th, 2017 [Thursday 1:00 to 3:00pm]

Please turn up at 12.45 so we can confirm the draw for a 1pm start. IF you are late you risk losing your place in the competition.

Bring: Please bring your own darts with you. We will have a limited number of spares onsite for those who don’t have them. 

Where: Activities Hall, OUSA Clubs and Societies Centre, 84 Albany Street, Dunedin

Cost: Free

Eligibility:  You must be an Otago University/Polytechnic or Language Student to participate. People of all levels of ability are welcome to sign up!

Structure: This is a mixed sex singles competition. The amount of legs per match will depend on the amount of people who turn up on the day. Members of the Otago Darts Association will be around throughout the competition to help you out with the rules and scoring.

Prize Money:  1st Place $200, 2nd $75 and 3rd $50. This is awarded via electronic transfer. This may take up to two weeks. 

Spot Prizes: There will be a bunch of spot prizes available throughout the competition. You’ve got to be in it to win it!

GREAT OTAGO UNIVERSITY BAKE OFF

Calling all bakers! If you have a flare for baking, a passion for creating and ideas to inspire we want to hear from you. This was such a fun and mind blowing event last year were excited to see your creations this time around. Slip on those oven mitts and get brainstorming.

When: Friday August 18th, 2017. Please submit your baking between 9am and 10.30am. Pick up if required between 1-1.45pm. Any food left over after this will be eaten or donated to charity.

Where: Otago Room, OUSA Clubs & Societies Centre, 84 Albany Street, Dunedin

Cost: Free (and restricted to) Otago University, Otago Polytech, and Otago Language Students.

Prize Money: $200 first place, $75 second place and $50 third place. Prize money is awarded via an electronic transfer. This may take up to two weeks. 

The Judges: OUSA Recreation Officer, OUSA Recreation Manager and OUSA Recreation Programme Coordinator (plus assorted waifs and strays).

Marking Criteria: We will be marking on taste, presentation, difficulty and creativity.

Terms and Conditions:
Please bake your own entry. There is a limit of 3 entries per person/flat/group. All entrants agree to have their name and an image of their food published in all forms of OUSA media including the Critic. Attach an enrolment form to your entry. These can be collected from reception at OUSA Clubs & Socs Building. Please don’t give us food poisoning (if you wouldn’t feed it to your grandma, partner or child we don’t want it either). If something looks dodgy we retain the right to remove it from the competition, and biff it in the bin. You are only required to provide 3 servings of your baking, not the entire finished product, unless of course you want to. Small Print: The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

LASER TAG TOURNAMENT

The OUSA Laser Tag Tournaments are now being handled by the Otago University Lasertag Society (OULS).

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

Sick of seeing the same old “selfies” and snap chats? Test your photography repertoire and enter in our photo comp. There is no theme so we will literally except anything (that you would be comfortable also showing your grandma)

When:
Submissions will be taken from July 1st - July 31st, 2017.

There is a limit of 3 entries per person
Please include: Your Student ID no./ Contact Phone No./ And titles for images, if any.

Cost: Free (and restricted to) Otago University, Otago Polytech, and Otago Language Students.

Prize money: $100 first place, $50 second place and $25 third place.

It must not have been published elsewhere including self-published or published on a website. 
Photo’s will be judged anonymously.

PIZZA QUIZ NIGHT (HARRY POTTER EDITION!)

Attention all Hufflepuffs, Slytherins, Gryffindors, and Ravenclaws! Some students suggested we make a Harry Potter themed quiz, so we’re doing it! Grab your anti-cheating quills and come on down and enjoy some pizza while testing your Harry Potter knowledge! The questions range from ALL forms of official Harry Potter media, so if you think the questions will be easy as “What does Wingardium Leviosa do?” think again! Also, don’t participate if you don’t want spoilers of any kind!

When: July 31st, 2017 [Monday 7:30 - 9:30pm]

Cost:
$2 per person Otago University, Otago Polytech, and Otago Language Students. Staff, Alumni and the public are not able to participate in this event. Entry is limited to the first 13 teams.

Prize money: $200 first place, $75 second place and $50 third place. Prizes are awarded via electronic transfer. This may take up to two weeks.

Food Facts:
40 pizza’s will be ordered and available in a buffet type style. There will be a few vegetarian and gluten free options. It gets pretty messy so be prepared to roll your sleeves up and stand your ground. Don’t be the guy who takes a whole box of meat lovers—nobody likes this guy.

POETRY COMPETITION

Unleash the inner, or outer poet in you. Get those creative juices dripping, and wax lyrical. Or simply go mad in this semester’s poetry competition. The theme? There is none so the possibilities are endless, timeless, ageless, perpetual, everlasting, enduring and without end. Collect your thoughts and get writing

POKER TOURNAMENT

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face. Come along to the campus equivalent of the World Poker Series. Separate the sharks from the fish and win the flat bragging rights.

When: September 8th, 2017 [Friday 5:30 - 10:15pm]. Arrive at 5pm on night of event to secure your spot. Your place may be given away if you are late.

Cost: Free (and restricted to) Otago University, Otago Polytech, and Otago Language Students.

Where: Evison Lounge, Clubs and Societies Centre, 84 Albany Street, Dunedin

Prize money: $200 first place, $75 second place and $50 third place. Prizes are awarded via electronic transfer. This may take up to two weeks.

Structure:
Starting stack size, levels, blinds and round times are TBA (dependent on registration numbers)  
8 players maximum per table  
Tournament style is no limit freeze out.
The tournament will end at 10:15pm respective of the amount of players still "in". If the winner hasn't been reached organically by this stage placings will be given in accordance with the amount of chips players have.

OUSA Recreation Team decision is final.
