Ruby Sycamore-Smith

Welfare Officer

Hi there,

My name is Ruby Sycamore-Smith and I have been elected as your campaigns officer in the 2013 executive team!

I'm in my third year of my bachelor of arts degree where I am majoring in communications and minoring in marketing. Along with this I've started an internship with channel 9 doing t.v presenting and a bit of radio reading for our thriving radio one station.

This year my number one goal in the campaigns position is to ensure that every student is aware of what OUSA is able to achieve for them! Last year OUSA were able to achieve three dollar dinners, targeting the need for cheap food. This year we are targeting the environment we live in, the infamous student flats. I hope to reach every student and make them realise how their living environment effects them mentally and physically.

Furthermore I'm also incredibly excited to be promoting critic TV. I think it will be a great way of promoting our students visually and really giving them the chance to speak up!

Already over summer I have been working with the organisation "it 's not ok" to create a campaign informing the university body about the effects of negative relationships and signs that people need to be aware of. I hope to bring in other important organisations so that the students can get involved in!

Fran and I also went to the power shift conference up in Auckland. It was inspiring to see the difference that we can make.
