Judo is a Japanese sport and martial art developed from Jiu Jitsu. Judo is a grappling sport that is comprised of standing throws, ground grappling, strangulation and armlocks. Judo is an excellent sport, form of self-defense and fitness/exercise program (it also has one of the lowest injury rates of any sports). The Otago University Judo Club is appropriate for all skill levels, from Olympians to people who have never even heard of Judo before but would like to give it a try. We focus on a safe practice environment and welcome all. Training is on Tuesday and Sunday nights, 7pm to 9pm in the Old Gym on Cumberland street.
