OUSA Poetry Competition

Fancy yourself as a bit of a wordsmith? Feel the need to unleash the inner, or outer poet in you. Then get those creative juices dripping, and wax lyrical, or simply go mad in this semester’s poetry competition.

Theme you ask? Keeping up with current events, we want to hear your creative interpretation about your experience during lockdown. So collect your thoughts and get writing. 


Submissions will be taken from 1st  -  31st May, 2020 ONLY and the winner will be announced on our Facebook page by late-June. Prizes include $100 first place, $50 second place and $25 third place. Prizes are awarded via electronic transfer. This may take up to two weeks.

Entry is limited to University and Polytechnic students only and there is a limit to 3 entries per person.

Copyright remains with the author  The poem must be the work of the submitter. It must not have been published elsewhere including self-published or published on a website.  Poem's will be judged anonymously. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  Entrants agree to have their images and names published on the OUSA website, Facebook page/s, Critic, Get a Taste booklet, Art week displays, Recreation Centre Bollards or any other OUSA media avenues.  OUSA reserves the right to remove any entries from the competition.
