Bike Commuting 101

Overview

Do you want to get around town in a fast and safe way? Are you curious about bike commuting, but are hesitant or uncomfortable riding on the road? Do you want to have a safer, more fun experience on your bike commute? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this course is for you!

What Experience Do You Need

You must have basic competence with riding a bike (e.g. can ride in a straight line for a prolonged period, use brakes, etc.)

What to Expect

During this course you will learn about bike commuting in Dunedin, improve your cycling abilities, and practice cycling on the road. This course will take place over two sessions—each session will last roughly 1.5 hours and consist of a 30 minute in-classroom lecture and 1 hour of cycling on the road. Cycling on the road will be done in a group of no more than six students at a time under the supervision of a trained cycle skills instructor.

What to Bring

You must bring your own helmet and working bike, and appropriate clothing.
