Restorative Yoga

The aim of this yoga class is to tune into a deep state of peace and relaxation. Classes start with a series of gentle stretches, then we move onto some more dynamic movement, the class then chills out with a series of breathing exercises and a guided relaxation. The class is suitable for beginners and onward.

The class is taught by Dr Stephen Parker, a local Dunedin surfer and medicinal herbalist. Stephen has been doing yoga off and on for over 20 years, but is still the most inflexible yoga teacher in the world! Yoga does contribute to his chilled-out demeanour though! He graduated with a PhD in 2020 explouring New Zealand men's experiences with yoga, and incorporates insights from this research into the restorative yoga class.
