Pottery on a Wheel ~ Semester TWO

Pottery on a Wheel ~ Semester TWO

This five-week introductory course will cover a range of wheel throwing pottery skills where you learn how to build a variety of creations, under the expert tutelage of local Potter Riki Julin. During the first week you learn to work clay, centre your project and make a basic small cylinder, then in the second and third weeks, you will learn how to make cups, saucers and bowls. In the fourth week, you can get really creative while playing and experimenting with your own creations. The fifth and final week will be spent decorating and preparing your pieces for glazing. Those with previous pottery experience are encouraged to use the class time to work on their own projects or join in with the rest of the class. Your finished pieces are returned to the OUSA Clubs and Societies Centre following the final firing and will be available for collection from the Centre (usually within 2-3 weeks after the final class).

If you have previously completed the Pottery on the Wheel course, or have previous pottery experience, then you can sign up for this course again, and Riki will assist you with more complex pieces etc.
