About Student Media:
Drawing from the thriving creative cultures surrounding our base in Dunedin’s tertiary institution, Radio One is a cultural hub for diversity and creativity, ultimately represented by our on-air programming and local attitude. We're about reflecting Ōtepoti back to itself through youth broadcasting. Turning it up locally, from the grounds of the mighty University of Otago, Radio One 91FM has a proud and vibrant history.
Critic Te Ārohi is the official magazine of the Otago University Students’ Association of the University of Otago. It is freely available around both the university’s campus and selected sites in Dunedin city weekly during term time. Critic is New Zealand’s longest-running student magazine, having been established in 1925. Weekly circulation is up to 3,500 copies, with an estimated readership of 20,000.
About the role:
Working across both teams and reporting to the Radio One Manager and the Critic Te Ārohi Co-Editors, the key the key tasks of the role include:
• Pitch, script, shoot, and edit video content including both planned and ad hoc projects such as gigs, interviews, and vox pops.
• Support the Critic Te Ārohi film and video volunteers
• Manage Critic Te Ārohi’s social media channels
• Collaborate with the Radio One Promotions Manager on content and social media
Ideally, you will have:
• Tertiary education or equivalent experience preferred in video/film/media or another relevant field
• Strong understanding of local student culture
• The ability to work unsupervised, and as part of a team
• Experience in film and video editing
