Generation Screwed Otago

Generation Screwed Otago

Generation Screwed Otago is an opportunity for students to work together, amplifying our voices as we watch politicians, institutions, unelected officials, and more spend away our future. Generation Screwed is a uniquely student voice, we don't amplify the opinions of any group or political party, but rather stand for our own perspectives. We are an advocacy club. Together we compile evidence of waste within the University of Otago, southern local councils (predominantly the ORC and DCC), and the national government. We then campaign on issues students care about to change the country for the benefit of our generation.

In Otago we are advocating for resources to be better allocated so students can once again study a world class education and experience a world class university life. These include advocating for the return of student bars, seeing students drinking safer in regulated private sector businesses. We want Otago staff to be paid fairly and employed in focused roles, no more department cuts or degree bloat.

Finally we want the University to maintain a balanced budget and pay off it's debts so current and future generations aren't screwed over and have the same access to education and university services that we can afford today.
