Ready to put your creativity to the test?
Gather your crew (or fly solo) and take on the challenge of creating a short film in just 100 hours. At 10am on Monday, the theme, required elements, and filmmaking challenge will be revealed. From there, you'll have until 2pm on Friday to write, film, edit, and submit your film.
Whether you're an experienced filmmaker or giving it a go for the first time, the 100 Hour Film Festival is your chance to tell a story, learn new skills, collaborate with others, and have plenty of fun along the way.
There are prizes up for grabs, including the OUSA Student Support Kotahitanga Film Award.
So charge your cameras, gather your cast, and get ready for 100 hours of creativity, problem-solving, and cinematic magic.

It encourages us to pause, reflect, and recognise the experiences that unite us.
Kotahitanga is a foundational Māori value that embodies unity, togetherness, and a shared sense of belonging. It reminds us that while every individual has their own story, we are strongest when we support one another and celebrate our shared humanity.
The OUSA Student Support Kotahitanga Award recognises a student film created as part of the 100 Hour Film Festival that demonstrates both creative excellence and a meaningful interpretation of the spirit of Kotahitanga. Through its story, characters, themes, or message, the winning film will capture the importance of connection, community, inclusion, and belonging.

The Rules
1. The ‘Film’ must be created between 10am Monday and 2pm Friday. You can use any resources you have available, including (but not limited to) actors, music, sound effects, stills and footage as long as you have permission for all material used in your film
2. Filmmakers can choose to create there film based around a thriller, drama or comedy genre
3. The duration of the ‘Film’ must be minimum 1 minute and maximum 5 minutes. This includes your titles and credits.
4. The ‘Film’ must be uploaded to ........? as a single digital movie file or can be dropped in to our office at 262 Leith Walk or a file link can be sent to sophie.penn@ousa.org.nz Films must be submitted by 2pm, Friday 21st August.
5. The ‘Film’ must include all the required elements as supplied at the launch.
6. Your single file entry must include the following video content in the following order:

Black screen: 5 seconds.
7. You must have the rights to all material that appears in the ‘Film
8. OUSA will not accept entries that contain content that we consider offensive for example; nudity, drug use, sexual harm, hate speech. Decisions on this will be made at the discretion of OUSA Student Support.
9. You must not break the law.
