Empowerment Self-Defense and Personal Safety for Women

Empowerment Self-Defense and Personal Safety for Women

Build confidence and learn practical tools to help you feel safer and more empowered in everyday life. This workshop offers a welcoming space for all women* to explore simple, evidence-based safety skills tailored to real situations women may face. No prior experience is needed—everyone is encouraged to join.

You’ll learn about your rights to safety, how to set clear boundaries with assertive communication, how to spot early warning signs, and ways to de-escalate situations using your awareness and voice. You’ll also practice physical techniques designed to help defend against a larger or stronger person, as well as skills for seeking support and supporting others.

All women are welcome, including trans women and non-binary people comfortable in a women-centred space, survivors of violence, and people of all bodies and abilities.

Please bring a water bottle, comfortable clothing, and some lunch.

This class is run by Kia Haumaru.
