Pottery on the Wheel

Pottery on the Wheel

Get your hands muddy and discover the joy of wheel throwing in this five-week introductory pottery course! You’ll learn how to work clay, centre on the wheel, and create simple forms like cylinders, cups, bowls, and saucers. There’s plenty of time to experiment, decorate, and prepare your pieces for glazing. Finished works will be fired and ready for pick-up 2–3 weeks after the final class.

No experience is needed, you can join any term. If you’ve done pottery before, you’re welcome to use the sessions to work on your own projects or follow along with the class. Please bring an old towel.

The course is taught by local potter Riki Julin, a ceramic artist with decades of experience, a long-standing studio practice, and deep involvement in the Otago pottery community.

The ticket will provide you with 5 sessions running the following days and times:

Tuesdays, 7pm - 9pm, 21st April - 19th May at Otago Potters Group - 6 Neville Street, South Dunedin. Please bring an old towel.
