Women's Self Defence ~ Semester TWO

Women's Self Defence ~ Semester TWO

Free women’s self-defence course, taught by Bell Murphy, an accredited member of the Women's Self Defence Network –Wāhine Toa. This workshop provides a fun, supportive space for learning about your rights and practicing simple techniques—mental, verbal and physical—which anyone can use for staying safe and empowered. By sharing ideas and suggestions, based on research about what works, this course will increase your options and confidence for dealing with danger in a range of situations relevant to women's lives including strangers in public, people we know and in our relationships. It will also give you more ideas for where to find support and how to support others. All women, including transgender/ takatāpui, of all ages and abilities warmly welcome.

The following courses will continue to be free as a result of a successful funding application to the Womens' Self Defence Network- Wāhine Toa. We acknowledge and  again thank the Womens' Self Defence Network- Wāhine Toa for their ongoing support of this programme as part of the OUSA recreation programme.

The Thursday sessions are a collaboration between Womens' Self Defence Network - Wāhine Toa & Thursdays in Black/OUSA.

PLEASE NOTE: Some snacks and light refreshments are provided for the all-day courses, but you will need to provide your own lunch.
