About the Club:

In late 2023, the founding members realized that very few spaces existed for K-Pop fans to meet and dance together in Dunedin. As a result, DKC was founded to foster dance, cultural exchange, and community around K-Pop. The tikanga (culture) of the club is to be welcoming, inclusive, supportive, diverse, respectful, and cooperative so that we can have a safe space for everyone to dance. We also want our club to be a hub for K-pop/dance/music fans to socialize, have fun, and feel like they belong!

2024 marked our first year operating as an OUSA-affiliated club, and we are excited to continue to grow and become a self-sufficient and stable club that will continue for years to come.

Classes and Events:

The core activity of DKC are two weekly classes in which select members volunteer to teach a section of a K-Pop song of their choice. Classes alternate between boy and girl groups each week, and the song is announced ahead of time on our socials.

We also hold special events on an occasional basis, which include:

• watch parties (watching K-Pop MV releases, live performances, group content, and even K-Dramas),
• dance performances (YT covers, live event performances, etc.),
• DKC showcase (end of year event open to any members to perform!)

Class Schedule:

Tuesdays 7-9pm

Sundays 5-7pm

All classes are held at OUSA in either the Dance Studio or Exercise Studio. Check our socials for information on each class! First class is free!

Partners and Sponsors:

DKC is proudly partnered with Hive K-beauty and K-pop, who provide us with merchandise to give away to our members! Make sure to pay them a visit by clicking this link:  https://k-beauty.co.nz!

Rules and Conditions:

To participate in any club activities, you must first become a member by signing up through OUSA by clicking on the signup button on this page. Once signed up, we ask that you read the Club Constitution and Code of Conduct to know what members are entitled to, and what responsibilities you have. Apart from the first free class, a membership fee must be paid to become a member and partake in club activities.

It is important to ALWAYS be respectful of other members, and not be rude, mean, or condescending towards any other member of the club.

Remember that we all have different backgrounds, and we dance for fun and community over all else!

Competitive dancing and performances will be possible for members who want to push themselves beyond "just having fun", but these groups will also be expected to be welcoming and supportive.
