The purpose of the SKANDI Society is to honour and host culturally significant events for students at the University of Otago and the Otago Polytechnic, as well as any other people in Otepoti who wants to take part in these events.

We welcome people of different background into our Society, not just those of Scandinavian heritage but also those interested in other Nordic countries. This Society is primarily focused on seeing the connections between the cultures of Scandinavian & Nordic countries, not the differences.

We hope to educate people on the cultures of Scandinavian & Nordic countries through regular events where we teach different phrases in the languages as appropriate based on who is present and willing to teach.
