Our purpose.

The University of Otago Car Club is a club for student car enthusiasts to socialize with likeminded people and enjoy their automobiles in a social setting. We are open to Japanese, American, European cars and any other country of car. This club plans to conduct semiweekly meetings in the OUSA clubs and societies building as well as carry out car cruises and car meets.

Our values

This club will prioritize safety and legal behavior. We do not tolerate illegal or reckless behavior, and we require every member to have a valid and up to date warrant of fitness and registration on their vehicles, failure to meet this requirement will result in club members’ cars being excluded from events. Furthermore, if any club members intentionally behave in a reckless or illegal manner whether while driving or not driving, they risk having their membership terminated and being banned from club events. We recommend that all members have insurance, members without insurance will not be excluded from club events, however they drive and operate at their own risk.

Legal aspects.

Every club member is to be responsible for their vehicle and their actions, if any club member causes damage to public or private property they will be personally liable and will need to rectify the problem themselves, this is also in our constitution, thus all members drive at their own risk. We also state in our constitution that intentional reckless or illegal behavior will not be tolerated and can result in membership termination, furthermore, lack of a warrant of fitness or registration will exclude members cars from events, if members try to enter their cars into club events after being asked to warrant and/or register their vehicles they risk membership termination. All members must have a valid form of license to use their car in club events, if a club member is found out to not have a valid form of license their vehicle will be excluded from club events.
