Scottish Country Dancing is a social affair, dancers trace patterns and sequences of figures which are set to jigs and reels which come from the Gaelic tradition of Highland Scotland. In this course you will learn the basics of footwork, simple figures and teamwork in the dance.

REQUIREMENTS

None! This course is for complete beginners, but we do reccommend soft soled shoes.

A LITTLE ON THE FACILITATOR

Quentin has been Scottish Country dancing for 14 years, starting with no dance background at all. Finding the combination of lively Scottish music and the movement patterns irresistible he quickly became a passionate enthusiast. He loves spreading the joy of dancing and is now a trained Scottish Country Dance teacher, teaching in Dunedin, Lawrence and Roxburgh.
