VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE

This meeting was called to address the ultimatum delivered to Josh Smith, Recreation Officer to address his behaviour over the media coverage for the Protest being organised.

In the previous executive meeting he was asked to apologise to the Proctor, make a public apology to Caitlin and OUSA and remove OUSA signage from the media coverage unless approved and remove the Petition to remove Dave Scott as it appears linked to the Protest.

Josh chose not to apologise to Dave Scott.  He apologised for speaking to the media without consent and breaking OUSA protocol but insisted the processes are not agile on a political level. He was keen to gather interest and build on support of the students he was representing as the coverage was gathering momentum.

He agreed to remove OUSA signage from the petition as the Executive never approved it. He also agreed there wouldn’t be a demand made for the Proctor to resign now. Josh reiterated Dave Scott is a nice guy and they accepted his apology.

Some of the Executive expressed their objection to Josh going ‘rogue’ and undercutting Caitlin.

Caitlin accepted the apology from Josh and agreed to support the Protest tomorrow.

The protest will start at the corner of Dundas and Castle Street’s and go to the Proctors office. Dave Scott will address them and they will present him with a Proctor code of conduct from the North Dunedin residents. Josh offered to bring a draft copy of the proposed Code of Conduct, the executive declined to support the Code of Conduct.
