MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE MEETING HELD ON 9 FEBRUARY 2017 AT 4.17PM HELD IN ROOM 2 OF THE CLUBS AND SOCIETIES CENTRE, ALBANY STREET, DUNEDIN

LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS REPORTS
As attached.
Sean Gamble the author of this report was invited to address the meeting and answer questions. He emphasised the Politics department wanted a copy and he wanted to have a record for OUSA, especially beneficial this being a national election year.
Hugh remarked NZUSA gave positive feedback about the campaign, also the electoral commission were very pleased with the work done by this group.
James indicated the College wardens would like general clarity over the campaign for their students in future. James offered to follow this up.

50/17 THAT the Local Body elections 2016 student engagement campaign report be received.

CAPPING CHARITY 2017
Hugh explained how the Executive get to choose a charity each year. This executive would like it to be student focused.
The executive can come up with ideas before the next meeting and send them to Donna. Life Matters - suicide prevention was suggested as a good starting point.

NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN IN NEW ZEALAND INTERNSHIP
Lucy addressed the meeting to explain she had been approached to be a member either as an individual or representing OUSA in her capacity as an executive member. There would be a report submitted to the executive. This could be continued in future years' for an OUSA executive member perhaps.

THE NCOW has a head office in Wellington with a local networks. They are presently working on:
CEDAW: Preparing NGO shadow report on New Zealand
Enabling women's potential - the social, economic and ethical imperative
Submissions relating to gender equality
NCWNZ's organisational review 2016

59/17 THAT the OUSA Executive support Lucy Northwood being on the National Council of Women in New Zealand as a local member.

GENERAL BUSINESS
RU OK Training - please ensure you have signed up for training and rostered on for the events.
Executive training - February 17 - and Hamish Walker will conduct governance training on 16 February. An executive retreat could be planned for later in the semester.
NEXT MEETING
The next executive meeting will be 17 February 2017 at 2.30pm. There may not be a meeting during the busy Orientation period. Hugh will advise.
