CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUE
Abby was invited to address the meeting as she wanted to clarify clauses in the constitution that could be reviewed. Section 7 powers of the student body too high.
Does it currently suggest that members of the student body could change the rules or even move to make unrealistic financial decisions?

ATSA – Aotearoa Tertiary Action Group UPDATE
As attached proposal document suggests OUSA to decide on joining this group. It was stressed this is a proposal document and is not in in any way a binding Constitution.
After the national meeting held in Dunedin in May with a lot of dissent some of the OUSA Executive were reluctant in joining any of the national groups. It was obvious national organisations couldn’t afford to join.
All student Association and Equity Groups are invited to be members. ATSA will be centralised knowledge bank make up of all the execs of the student associations, with sub-committees focused on specific issues that our student association face: The other group: ATSA focuses on information, community and discussion.
The second body is the Aotearoa Tertiary Action Group (ATAG), which is a group specifically focused on lobbying and political action on issues which affect tertiary students on a national level. All Student Associations and Equity Groups are invited to have representation on the national council which will steer the direction of campaign.
Amy Whyman arrived at 10.23am
It was impressed that NZUSA has a good 80 years’ experience.
There was no ‘collective will’ among the groups at present. There has been 18 months of squabbling, and our focus should be on our own students and sit on the side line.
It was decided to put this to a vote.
Moved from the Chair
383/25 THAT OUSA Join the Aotearoa Tertiary Action Group (ATAG).
