Itumātao Development site March – Dunedin held a peaceful march last week. It was envisaged to be a gathering in the Octagon but hundreds turned out.
Protesters are trying to prevent construction of nearly 500 homes (A Fletcher project) on this historic site.
Taylor asked if OUSA could assist with this as they have in previous events. Some executive members assisted in the March and supplied drinks.
Could OUSA have a fundraising event to help with the protestors up North? Maybe a concert outside with kapa haka and music. Josh offered to convene an event if it was agreed to hold it.
James and Taylor will liaise with Marketing and Communication’s about getting a post out in support of the protest especially to honour the Treaty of Waitangi.
Taylor will talk with the Te Roopu Māori Executive to see how we can assist.
Second semester executive meetings – this to be finalised but in the meantime next meeting at 9.15am on Monday as usual.
