MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 28 APRIL 2021 AT 8.30AM HELD IN THE OUSA MAIN OFFICE BUILDING, 640 CUMBERLAND STREET, DUNEDIN

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS EXECUTIVE MEETING

MATTERS ARISING

            The OUSA ANZAC Service had the MCR and foyer packed with attendees. It was an excellent service and many guests said it was the best one they have attended. 

The staff and executive did a splendid job shifting it inside at the last minute owing to inclement weather.  Well done to all that contributed.

            Relay for Life event – another accolade to those who took part.  The OUSA team raised nearly $1700.  A huge gratitude to Josh Meikle who volunteered tirelessly for OUSA and the Cancer Society to help make this event a success.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Reporting from the Managers meeting held yesterday there was were no incidents or accidents this month.

OUSA UPDATE

Many staff taking leave as school holidays and some taking time off after working long hours over Orientation and other events.

The Auditors have finished their work in-house here and hopefully they will get the financial statements finalised for presentation to the student body this semester.

Starters Bar has had a revamp with furniture from one of the Octagon Bars that has closed down.  It is looking much better and all are encouraged to pop along and have a look.

OTAGO UNIVERSITY PACIFIC ISLAND STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION UPDATE

            There is a ‘talk series’ on Tuesday at 7pm.

STUDENT GENERAL MEETING MINUTES

A good turnout at this meeting with healthy conversations. A reminder that there is another SGM this Friday 30th April at 2pm.

DCC DRAFT 10 YEAR PLAN 2021-2031 SUBMISSION

CONTRACEPTION STERILISATION AND ABORTION AMENDMENT BILL SUBMISSION

 Mhairi was commended for her excellent work with the many submissions she has been working on.

RATE MY FLAT

Jack explained this wasn’t finalised yet, a proposal will be put forward at the end of the month.

GENERAL BUSINESS

The former Mayor of Dunedin David Cull passed away yesterday at the age of 71 of Cancer. Mayor Cull was an excellent advocate for students and the University.  He was very respected and had an excellent relationship with OUSA, especially the Presidents throughout his tenure with the DCC.

160/21 THAT OUSA acknowledges the death of former Mayor David Cull and wish to pass on their condolences to his family.

There are a number of executive members who can’t make the SGM on Friday, especially Michaela as she is in Wellington at the NZUSA Congress and wish to pass on their apologies for the meeting.

Education Committee – the committee are reviewing the terms of reference especially to include the Postgraduate Students Representative.
