MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 20 SEPTEMBER 2021 AT 11:03AM HELD VIA ZOOM.

 

PRESENT

Michaela Waite-Harvey (Chair), Emily Coyle, Josh Meikle, Michael Evans, Maya Polaschek, Mhairi Mackenzie Everitt, Dushanka Govender, Geraldi Ryan, Karamea Pēwhairangi, Sophie Barham, Jack Saunders and Melissa Lama.

MINUTES OF THE EMERGENCY STANDING COMMITTEE MEETING

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Nothing to report.  Good compliance with Covid-19 level 2 being in place. 4pm today we look forward to an update on the current levels.

OUSA UPDATE

            Budgeting for 2022 – work in progress, should be finished today.

Grants – the Lotteries commission application has been submitted and now in the assessment phase.  OUSA should find out the outcome at the end of the year.

Starter Bar closure – work still be undertaken for staff etc.

TE ROOPU MĀORI UPDATE

Elections – campaigning is underway.  All positions have been filled, bio’s and photos in Critic this issue. 

Te Mana Ākonga – (National Māori Tertiary Students’ Association ) their AGM was held and it went for 4 hours. There was a successful election and the Executive congratulates the elected representatives.

NZUSA UPDATES

            Congress dates yet to be confirmed.

There will be a final policy committee meeting next week. Emily will raise again about the Accountability policy.

AFFILIATION – NEW OTAGO POLYTECHNIC CLUB

A club predominantly made up of Otago Polytechnic students has approached the clubs and societies Manager for affiliation to OUSA. Would this set a trend in future?

The percentage of non- university students being allowed to affiliate was discussed.

It was pointed out that nursing students also attend the University of Otago for placements.

The

Dushanka will find out more, also talk with the OPSA Office Manager and report back. OPSA pays OUSA $7 per full time student for membership.

Melissa Lama submitted her report on time, however there are formatting issues with her computer, and she requested to re-submit for the next meeting.

GENERAL BUSINESS

Best and Worst Flat Awards – the advertising is now live. Mayor Aaron Hawkins, Michaela Waite-Harvey, Jack Saunders, Michael Evans, Rachel Brooking, Helen 2Nicholson, Erin Gourley will be the judges.
