LETTER TO THE UNIVERSITY REGARDING LECTURE RECORDINGS

It was suggested that OUSA release a letter publicly, so students know we are doing something. A letter of support from Otago and by proxy and other Uni’s to release lecture recording for students. Victoria and Auckland University’s facing backlash.

Suggested that a blanket lecture recording policy be implicated where possible.

EXECUTIVE 2023 ELECTION RETURNING OFFICERS’ REPORT

George was invited to address the meeting. He thinks there should be a criterion dealing with breaches and penalties.  Currently there is only disqualification or vote deduction at the discretion of the Returning Officer.

He suggested Elections Policy rule 11.1.5 about candidates campaigning near a polling booth be abolished as most voting is online now.

Financial returns aren’t coming in until well after the elections are finished.  This is problematic dealing with it well after a candidate is elected. He is suggesting an amendment to this rule.

Overall, a good election with very little complaints.

Moved from the Chair

sc310/22 THAT the Returning Officers’ report be received, his recommendation be considered, and he be thanked for his splendid work.
