MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 24 FEBRUARY 2020 AT 12:00PM HELD IN THE CLUBS AND SOCIETIES CENTRE, ALBANY STREET, DUNEDIN

 

PRESENT

Jack Manning (Chair), Georgia Mischefski-Gray, Josh Meikle, Michaela Waite-Harvey, Hanna Van der Giessen, Arina Aizal, Josh Smith, Emily Coyle, Jack Saunders, Josh Alefosio-Pei and Francesca Dykes

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS EXECUTIVE MEETING

74/20   THAT the minutes from the Executive Standing Committee meeting held on 13 February 2020 be accepted as a true and correct with the above amendment.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Nothing to report at present but the statistics from Orientation Are You Ok incidents, and the drug testing numbers will be presented to a meeting in a couple of weeks.

OUSA UPDATE

Orientation went really well.  The Events team are to be commended once again on their extraordinary hard work.  Jack said it was good to be behind the scenes and get a feel of how hard everyone works.  The entire OUSA contributed to a great week. Thank you! Incidences were minimal and St Johns commented they were able to take it easy at times.

Well done to Critic on their first great issue being published.

AFFILIATED CLUBS COUNCIL TERMS OF REFERENCE

As attached.  The first meeting for Affiliated Clubs Council is 19 March and it was hoped this would be finalised for that meeting.

The main section being altered in the voting section (section 5). Each club may nominate only one member to have voting rights at the council to be their voting representative.

Any issues arising will be solved by the club themselves and solved at the time.

The Secretary explained if this wasn’t going to notice a special resolution of 2/3rd majority would be required.

UPDATE ON RESEARCH ASSISTANTS PAY GAP

Hanna addressed the meeting explaining she had spoken to a Tertiary Education Union Organiser (TEU) and a member of staff at the University of Otago about this.

A collaborative morning tea with TEU, OUSA, students and staff will be held later in March.  Hanna will advise.

GENERAL BUSINESS

International Food Festival – Jack commended Arina and her team on a fabulous food festival held on Saturday, a great turn out.  Well done!

University and OUSA committee appointments – there are a few appointments to fill.  The AVP will post the updated list tomorrow.
