TERTIARY EDUCATION UNION
Joshua James was invited to address the meeting to express concerns and requesting support over the University of Otago Tutors and Demonstrators pay rates and conditions. He said there was a clear breach of employment law. Many aren’t being given an induction before beginning work which is against Uni policy. The TEU is going to take some recommendations to the University of Otago HR department.
There is a survey which closes on 27 April if OUSA could support them.
The Executive agreed to put their name to this and offer support and Te Roopu Māori offered to circulate the message through their channels. Josh will send a report to the Executive as soon as possible.

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS
Ben addressed the meeting first expressing their desire to be available to the Executive and suggested we use them as a resource as they are all accessible and happy to help. Gina and Amit conveyed their pleasure to be working with OUSA.
They are here to work in good faith and congratulated OUSA on taking this step.
A Charter with guidelines and principles is being worked on, conflicts of interest being sorted out as well as establishing a plan for the year and beyond.
TE ROOPU MĀORI UPDATE
A busy month ahead with a visit from Te Mana Ākonga (the National Māori Tertiary Students’ Association), Relay for Life, ANZAC services and UOPISA and TRM BBQ among other things.
NZUSA UPDATE
NZUSA visiting our campus on Thursday. There will be a hui from 9am until 1pm in the Otago Room. Te Mana Ākonga here too. Michaela will be attending the national NZUSA hui in Wellington, a member of parliament will be attending the hui too.
OTAGO UNIVERSITY PACIFIC ISLAND STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION UPDATE
Collaboration of all Associations for overall languages and for health.
Contentious times being navigated a present.
UOPISA and TRM working well together which has been great.

STUDENT GENERAL MEETING
SGM Agenda as attached. Noting this went out for notice a couple of weeks ago.
As it was inevitable there was going to be a breach of the constitution not allowing the audited accounts and annual report being presented to the student body in the first semester because of Covid 19; also this prevented a student general meeting being called within the five working days requirement to report the breach we are now holding another student general meeting to report this breach and validate it.

Representative to the Annual SGM in order to be eligible for grant funding.

135/21 THAT the OUSA executive remuneration be set at the proposed rates effective 1 May 2021:
President (40 hours) $41,640 per annum
Administrative Vice President, Finance & Strategy Representative, Academic Representative, Welfare and Equity Representative (20 hours) $21,320 per annum.
Postgraduate, International, Clubs & Societies, Residential Representatives (10 hours) $10,660 per annum.
Tumuaki of Te Roopu Maori and Pacific Island Representative $1,279 per annum.

There has been a SGM motion received from members, Daniel Stride and Mark Baxter.
THAT OUSA calls upon the Labour Government to fulfil its 2017 election promise, and restore post-graduate access to the student allowance.
HYDE STREET COSTUMES
The Executive had a lively discussion on whether bananas or shrek costumes would be worn. They will decide later as it was indecisive at this meeting.
GENERAL BUSINESS
Fire and Circus Club assets – as per the emails from the Club Development Officer.

136/21 THAT the Executive give permission to the Club Development Officer (CDO) to dispose of or disperse the assets of the defunct Fire and Circus Club as indicated and photographed

Charity for 2021 – there were a few more ideas put forward so a firm decision will be made at the next executive meeting.
Myanmar fundraiser – There will be a food sale on the Union lawn on Thursday 15 April.
Satellite Campuses – Josh is organising visits and will let us know.
DCC Annual Plan Stalls – a reminder these are still happening and the dumpling BBQ will be in operation.
