UTSNZ facilitate a range of inter tertiary sporting competitions each year. This gives opportunity for you to represent Otago University and push the limits to perhaps qualify for the World University Games.
University Tertiary Sport New Zealand (UTSNZ) is a relatively new entity established in 2015. UTSNZ is all about reviving competitive inter tertiary sporting competitions, lifting the standard of these competitions and developing pathways to international opportunities. Once established the organisation will hold a wider strategic focus, including establishing national sports strategies and coordinating targeted research activities to increase student sports participation and wellness. Otago University alongside seven other universities are full members of UTSNZ for 2018.

How to Get Involved
To participate in the above you must be an enrolled student at Otago University for the duration of the event. For 2018 OUSA will not be conducting trails instead representation will first be offered to affiliated clubs. These clubs may choose to run their own trials. Interested clubs will need to meet with the OUSA Clubs Development Officer and sign an Otago University UTSNZ Code of Conduct prior to registering for an event. Each team will need to have a dedicated manager (who could also be a player) to supervise the team whilst away.
At this stage, we do not have a dedicated staff member to facilitate UTSNZ. We do however have general support for clubs under our Clubs Development Officer and potential financial funding through the OUSA Grants system. These applications should be made as individual grants.
For more information about participating please get in touch with our Clubs Development Officer.
